Liaising with managers to bring new process and software/hardware into the business to help bridge weak areas in staff roles. Building the business towards implementation Quality Standards, personally responsible for Technology departments quality level and liaising with other department managers by implementing and training up on documentation based systems.

Brief description: Main technology contact, responsible for fluid business operation and R&D/Testing of new technology, as well as managing and maintaing company IT infrastructure.
Similar to previous role but on smaller scale. Also delving into the world of Audio Visual equipment such as specifying presentation systems, interactive learning systems, projectors, large public display systems for installation etc.
Currently updating in-house systems to comply with CAI and upcoming ISO requirements. Building and maintaining company website and Content Management System and dealing with external client problems and requests.

Brief description: As the Technology Officer I was the main IT/Production Technology contact for the Birmingham Operation.
Working with the group corporate IT team which handled inter site connections. All internal systems were managed by myself.
I had the great pleasure of working with some of the most prestigious Fortune 500 clients, including:
Unilever, Proctor & Gamble, GSK, Eli-Lilly, HP Sauce, Bayer, Elanco, Johnson&Johnson, Wyeth Medica, Elan, Scotts and Zeneus.
This included:
Specifying and purchasing of Client machines, servers and network equipment.
- Installation, setup and management of all listed equipment, includnig desktops, laptops, servers and network equipment.
- Working with suppliers on replacement and repairing of equipment.
- Specifying and purchasing of Printers and other peripherals.
- Purchase and management of software/upgrades and licenses.
- Monitor and problem solve archive and backup systems delegated to lower level staff member.
One half of the business consists of Microsoft Windows PC’s (2K and XP), laptop’s and Windows Servers, the other half is Apple Macintosh desktops and an Apple server.
The machines and users were administrated via an Active Directory domain which I administrated via a site specific OU.
Looked after 2xLAN, 8 servers (2 Mac Xservers), 50 Win PCs (XP Pro on site and mobile users), 35 Apple Mac (OSX Tiger), Printers and Switches. Creation of technical documentation to ISO and GMP audit pass level.
Creation of training documentation to expand users knowledge via use of corporate intranet; I also designed and implemented the intranet.
Asset Management of client and server software including distribution and patch management.
Management and implementation of backup system which comprised of Vertias software and a robot driven hardware tape library, where backups were approaching terabytes.
I was also part of a five man team that designed and implemented a change control system as a requirement of a pharma client.

Brief description: As an Apple mac technical operator I work on such titles as the Birmingham Post, The Evening Mail & The Mirror, design and production of print and digital media. From design and layout of full dual page spreads to advertisements for the papers using software such QuarkXPress, Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
There are also problem solving tasks such as ADS files that don’t print and text or pictures that have printed incorrectly, also various technical issues with the RIPs and Mac systems. In the digital area I was creating/updating the web front for the Post & Mail’s web presence for their Client PDF Section. This entailed creating an information site for clients to access information for sending artwork in The Post & Mail via ADS, email, ISDN etc. Troubleshooting of Apple mac and PC systems and working with central IT with various these issues.

Brief description: As sales assistant my main duty was to help customers (members of public and business) find software/hardware they required for their specific use. I was then promoted to position of Technical Advisor due to showing a good level of knowledge in the areas of software & hardware, my duties now also included installing hardware and complete upgrades/builds etc. During working for this company I had the great pleasure of using and being trained in a vast amount of software and hardware packages.
